Margarethe Kielland Stoltz

Senior Lawyer

Margarethe has extensive and varied experience as a commercial lawyer, specialising in several areas of law. She previously worked as a deputy judge, where she gained solid experience of legal proceedings and court work.

In addition, she has considerable experience in public administration, having worked as a senior adviser at the Ministry of Justice. In this role, she dealt with legal issues relating to regulations in the areas of the courts, the legal profession and legal aid, as well as international obligations within these fields. 

Furthermore, she worked on cases relating to international judicial cooperation concerning letters rogatory and extradition, and participated in meetings in international forums. Through this work, she acquired extensive expertise in areas including international human rights, as well as general administrative law expertise in other areas.

In her legal practice, Margarethe specialises in providing legal advice and resolving disputes in the areas of property law, contract law, data protection (GDPR) and intellectual property law. She assists both businesses and private individuals with a wide range of legal issues, from strategic advice to the handling of disputes.

Margarethe has particular expertise in intellectual property law, including copyright, trade mark law, and media and marketing law. She assists clients with everything from securing and enforcing intellectual property rights, defining boundaries in relation to others’ intellectual property rights, drafting and negotiating agreements, to advising on marketing strategies and dispute resolution in cases of infringement. Furthermore, she assists with intellectual property due diligence and provides support on intellectual property matters in connection with transactions, and also works on issues within the entertainment and media industry.

Margarethe also assists clients with issues relating to data protection and the GDPR. This includes, amongst other things, advising on regulatory compliance, drafting data processing agreements and handling data protection-related complaints and supervisory matters, as well as assessing data protection issues in connection with transactions.

Throughout her career, Margarethe has also gained considerable experience in contract drafting, negotiations and risk management. Her work in the property sector includes, among other things, advising on claims for defects under the Sale of Goods Act and the Housing Construction Act, tenancy agreements and development projects.
